CHRONOSTRATIGRAPHY:- 

 Branch of stratigraphy that studies the ages of rock strata in relation to time.


There are two types of units:

Geochronologic Unit: It is just a time unit.

Chronostratigraphic Unit: It is a time-rock unit.

∙Archeozoic and Proterozoic Eras were characterized by the forms of life without hard parts, which could have been preserved as fossils in rock.

∙The rock formations of these eras are generally devoid of body fossils.
