∙ Straits:-The strait is a narrow water body which connects two larger water bodies.

Location: Spain(Europe)-Morocco(Africa)
(4)Bosporus Strait
Location: Asian Turkey-European Turkey
(5) Bab el mandeb Strait:
Location: Yemen(Asia)-Djibouti(Africa)
(6) Hormuz Strait
Location: Iran(Asia)-Oman(Africa)
(7) Palk Strait
Location: India -Sri lanka
(8) Malacca Strait
Location: Indonesia - Malaysia
(9) Sunda Strait
Location: Indonesia
(10) Magellan Strait
Location: Chile(South America)
∙ Canals:- Canals are defined as man-made straits.
It is an artificial waterway constructed to facilitate trade.
Important canals in the world are:-
∙Suez Canal: Connecting the Mediterranean sea to the red sea through the Isthmus of Suez and dividing Africa and Asia.
∙Panama Canal: Connects the Atlantic Ocean with the Pacific Ocean and divides north and south America.
∙Channels:- Channels are defined as wide straits.
They can be either Natural or Artificial.
∙English Channel: Between Great Britain and France.
∙Ten degree channel: Channel That separates Andaman Islands and Nicobar Island from each other in the Bay of Bengal.
∙Isthmus:- A narrow landmass that connects two larger landmass or separates two water bodies.
∙Isthmus can be used for making canals.
Example-Panama Canal.
